The National Association of Insurance Commissioners has picked Sharon Clark to be chair of the Market Regulation and Consumer Affairs Committee.

Kentucky’s insurance commissioner, Clark fills the seat held by Jan Cline, the former insurance commissioner of West Virginia. Clark currently serves on the NAIC Executive Committee is an officer for the NAIC’s Southeastern Zone, and is a member of the NAIC Audit Committee.

The D committee oversees collection of market data, market information systems, automated applications and desk audits. It also manages examinations, interrogatories, investigations and other resources for monitoring market activities, plus analysis of data relevant to market issues.

Bankers Life and Casualty Company has raised $386,000 for the fight against Alzheimer’s disease through its 2011 Forget Me Not Days event, up from $338,000 in 2010.

Bankers Life, Chicago, a unit of CNO Financial Group Inc., Carmel, Ind. (NYSE:CNO), recruited about 1,000 employees, agents and other volunteers to stand on corners and collect donations.

The campaign reached 150 cities this year, up from about 130 cities in 2010.

This year, volunteers gathered about $286,000 in donations. Bankers Life contributed $100,000 in 2010 and another $100,000 this year.
